Jenna Beasley

Jenna Beasley (b. 1987, Terre Haute, IN) is a visual artist living and working in Queens, NY. Beasley holds a BFA in Painting from Indiana University and an MFA in Studio Art from Hunter College. She has recently exhibited work at No Place Gallery, Columbus, Ohio; Always Fresh, New York; NO Foundation, Toronto; Winston Wachter Gallery, New York; and 3434 Gallery, Brooklyn, NY.

Jenna Beasley’s work investigates moments of perceptual in-betweenness, unsettling binaries such as nature/culture, familiar/strange, real/artificial, and image/object. Operating in a recombinatory fashion, her symbol-laden works emerge from a semiotic playfulness, provoking polyvalent and uncanny readings. Utilizing diverse and often unorthodox materials, Beasley’s work digs into themes of catastrophe, ecology, alienation and intimacy, popular fantasy, and non-human agency.
